I Dream of Africa…

Since I’m not going to Africa anytime soon, I’ll bring Africa to me (: Researching and designing period costumes is my favorite. This time I get to use my experience in military costuming and combine it with my passion for indigenous tribes! Looking forward to co-creating my director’s vision. There’s so much work to be done and everything is flowing just as it should:)

Mi Corazon Insiste – Wardrobe Costumer

It’s been over a year since I worked on this telenovela Mi Corazon Insiste so I thought it would be best to share this fun experience. I wasn’t familiar with the telenovelas from Telemundo or the magnitude of the popularity of the two hottest stars Colombiana Carmen Villalobos and Cuban hottie Jencarlos Canela. It was great working with the Spanish speaking crew even though I was the only one that didn’t speak it. I somehow managed to understand and those 3 years of Spanish class in high school helped me tremendously! Carmen, Jencarlos and the production crew were super sweet and made me feel comfortable.

We got to shoot at some of the most popular tourist attractions like Santa Monica pier/beach, Sunset Blvd, Mulholland Drive, Griffith Park Observatory, Santee Alley, Rodeo Drive, the desert on the way to Las Vegas and Las Vegas! There were lots of “make-out” scenes and I was exposed to some really amazing Mexican food! The show aired from May-November 2011. If I can find a version with subtitles, I would totally watch it:)

Upcoming Native Elements Music Video!

The long awaited music video “The Bigger They Come” by SF’s reggae favorite Native Elements is premiering soon (hopefully)! Here’s some stills from the shoot. It was an honor working with the band and the Kidheroes crew again because it was being with family. The comfort level, creativity, talent and passion exudes throughout the video.

It’s a wrap!! Barbal Zoralo

I’m still feeling giddy and super proud of all the hard work, passion and creative talent that took place on set of the gypsy short film Barbal Zoralo! The sleepless nights and late-night sewing, dying and aging garments all paid off. It felt like being on a magic carpet ride during the 4-day shoot, everything organically flowed. Check out some stills and behind the scenes on the FB page Barbal Zoralo and the gypsy short blog.
